Spawforths instructed as architects for Custom Build pilot schemes in West Yorkshire
Following over 28 years activity in the self-build sector, Spawforths have been confirmed as project architects and development consultants for a number of pilot custom-build sites in the Leeds City Region.
While we are often associated with the region's large urban extensions and our work for many of the country's regional and national house builders, what is less well known is that Spawforths has been actively involved in the self-build market since the launch of the UK's first dedicated magazine and exhibition in 1989. Over the subsequent 27 years, the Spawforths' team have managed to create the first dedicated 0800 information line for prospective self-build families handling over 3000 calls a year; co-created the largest network of self-build architects in the UK; have presented at self-build events, seminars, workshops and exhibitions to many thousands of people; and have written for many of the countries leading self-build magazines.
The intention of the new custom-build pilot projects is to offer an increased range of choice for new-homes purchasers and facilitate delivery of smaller sites in lower value areas where the larger speculative house-builders are less interested in investing. The pilot projects will draw on the full range of Spawforths' professional services including architecture, planning, landscape design and community engagement.
