Major Mixed Use Regeneration Scheme Approved Unanimously By Bassetlaw District Council
A major mixed -use regeneration proposal for 30Ha of land at the former Welbeck Colliery in North Nottinghamshire, was unanimously approved last night by Bassetlaw District Council's planning committee. Spawforths were retained by Harworth Estates as architects, masterplanners and planners before the colliery closed in 2009 and have worked closely with the community and Welbeck Estates over the last 7 years to ensure that the scheme was well understood and supported by local residents and businesses.
The approved hybrid planning application includes a mix of employment uses, housing, woodland offices and service accommodation to meet the needs of both local residents and business occupiers. A number of end users have already been identified for parts of the site with the opportunity to create up to 250 new jobs over the next few years.
