We were delighted to kick off our first Lunch & Learn of 2026 by welcoming Mathew James and Liam Podbury from Lanpro Group to Spawforths for an insightful CPD session on Managing Historic Environment Risk.

Mathew and Liam shared their extensive experience in the historic environment, drawing on their expertise in archaeological project management. The session covered the full spectrum of heritage work, from desk-based assessments and field evaluations through to excavations and historic building recording.

The session also explored how heritage matters relating to listed buildings and conservation areas can be effectively managed, through preparation of heritage statements, heritage impact assessments, and setting assessments to support both planning and listed building consent applications.

It was a highly informative session that reinforced the importance of understanding and addressing heritage considerations early in the planning process.

A big thank you to Mathew, Liam, and the Lanpro team for such an engaging and thought-provoking talk.
