New Senior Management Team

As part of our ongoing growth as an employee-owned practice, we are delighted to announce the formation of our new Senior Management Team. This team will lead the firm’s five business units forward.

Congratulations to Daniel Kinghorn, Gavin Winter, Jenny Ray, Stephen Courcier, and Simon Brook. Together, they bring over 60 years of experience at Spawforths and will build on 38 years of our consultancy work in planning, local plans, environmental impact assessments, masterplanning, and architecture.

About the team

  • Daniel Kinghorn is a Senior Associate Masterplanner. Holding BA (Hons), MA, MArch (Dist.) and PgDip, he brings strong masterplanning credentials to the new leadership team.

  • Gavin Winter is an Associate Director and Chartered Town Planner with more than 20 years’ experience. He works across both public and private sectors, handling early site appraisals, planning applications, public consultations, and S106 negotiations. His work spans large-scale residential, leisure, and mixed-use developments.

  • Jenny Ray is also an Associate Director and Chartered Town Planner. She specialises in Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA). With over 20 years in planning practice, she leads complex EIA and planning projects, ensuring environmental regulations are fully met.

  • Stephen Courcier an Associate Director and Chartered Town Planner, has broad consultancy experience across housebuilding and local authority. He has in-depth knowledge of development appraisal, planning applications, appeals, and EIA work across residential, commercial, retail, and leisure sectors.

  • Simon Brook, a Senior Associate, leads our Commercial Architecture team. Over a 25-year career, he has delivered architectural projects of varying scale in commercial, healthcare, retail, transport, and education sectors.

This senior management team combines extensive expertise across planning, design, environment, and architecture. They will ensure Spawforths continues to deliver high-quality, sustainable, and deliverable development projects. We are confident they will build on our 38-year legacy to create vibrant and lasting places for communities.
