The Early Days
Born out of the vision of Peter Spawforth MBE in the late 1980s as he saw the opportunity to help landowners and developers to navigate an increasingly complex planning system, improve place-making and deliver regeneration and development which would the benefit the communities affected. Peter’s vision and values are fully embedded in everything that we do. Over the last three decades we have evolved into the Trusted Advisor for some of the largest and most innovative developers in the region, but we have also been true to our heritage by our twin focus on delivering bespoke and specialist projects.


Growing The Business
Taken forward by Adrian, Peter’s son, strengthened by a dedicated team of directors and staff, over the years, our award winning practice has evolved in response to the shifting tides of the external economy, national policy changes, and the wider planning and development landscape.
We’ve grown, adapted, and sometimes contracted—always with resilience and a commitment to remain relevant and future-facing. Together, we’ve modernised our systems, iterated our approach, and continued to refine how we work to keep things fresh and responsive. Throughout this evolution, one constant has remained: our commitment to delivering a high level of service to our clients. This ethos—of trust, quality, and collaboration—has allowed us to remain a valued and dependable advisor for over 35 years. Our growth has never been about scale alone, but about purpose, adaptability, and building lasting partnerships that stand the test of time.
Transitioning to Employee Owned
Our collaborative nature led us to transition our business into an Employee-Owned Trust in 2024 which helped us to reinforce our creative culture and positive working environment, but which also creates the platform for our future growth and shared reward. As a sustainable business we are focussed upon minimising our environmental footprint, maximising our positive social impact and supporting our internal and external partners.
