East Riding Scoping Consultation

Published On: July 21, 2026Categories: Consultations

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has announced the commencement of work on its new Local Plan, which will set out the long-term framework for how the district grows and develops.

The new Local Plan will guide where future development should be directed and will provide the planning framework for determining future planning applications and investment decisions. Once adopted, it will replace the recently adopted Local Plan Update (2025).

The first stage in preparing the new Local Plan is an early Scoping Consultation, which will seek views on the key issues that should shape the Plan, alongside how residents, businesses, landowners, developers and other interested parties would like to be involved throughout the plan-making process.

This early engagement provides an important opportunity to help influence the direction of the new Local Plan ahead of future stages of consultation, including consideration of policy options and potential development opportunities.

Consultation closes: 31st August 2026.
