Design Codes
A Design Code is a set of written and illustrated design rules and guidance used to control the physical implementation of a masterplan over a number of years and/or by a number of different delivery partners. It is a tool which helps ensure an organisations aspirations for quality and quantity is actually realised in the final scheme.
Whilst the design code requires design work up-front it leads to time savings, more certainty and better quality later on. It minimises the risk of work having to be redone and can add significant value to a scheme through its ability to control the quality of a development.
