Riverside Urban Village Masterplan Framework Approved
Working together with Miller Homes and Kirklees Council, Spawforths have been successful in securing approval for a Masterplan Framework for a new urban village to the South of Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.
The Dewsbury Riverside Masterplan Framework was approved by Cabinet on 19th March 2019. It sets out a vision to develop the site to provide around 4,000 new homes, new schools, senior living accommodation and a new local centre with retail units, a new doctors practice and a new community centre.
The scheme was praised at the Council Chamber meeting for being innovative and an “exemplar masterplan” seen as setting a precedent for future development. The new village will be developed around the existing bridleways and footpaths and build upon connections to the existing woodlands and surrounding area.
The first 1,800 homes will be constructed during the next 15 years as part of the adopted Kirklees Local Plan which was approved by the Full Council on 27th February 2019.
