Proposals for 96 houses at former Redcats site approved
A residential scheme prepared by Spawforths Architects and Bridge Homes, for the former Redcats Site, Horbury Road, Wakefield was approved today! The site will bring forward 96 new houses, 30 percent of which will be affordable. The proposal includes a mix of Traditional and Contemporary dwellings within the setting of the City of Wakefield Golf Course.
Our client Bridge Homes is a joint venture between Wakefield Council and Wakefield District Housing (WDH). The joint venture partnership was set up in 2012 to address a shortage of homes in the district. This is the second site Spawforths Architects have prepared for Bridge Homes that has been approved, delivering in total 126 homes, in the Wakefield District.
The scheme provides a range of housetypes including Detached, Semi Detached, Short Terraces, Senior living Apartments and Bungalows; a proportion of which will be offered as Shared Ownership and Rental properties. The proposal is of high quality design and includes strong public realm to create a sense of place within the development. The design will blend with the existing houses in the area to create a balanced community and will revitalise a derelict area.
Our first project ‘St Swithins’ is now on site with the showhouse expected to be available to view in the Spring.
And …We are currently working on a third site layout at Standbridge Lane which will be submitted for Planning early in the summer.
