Olympia Park Selby - Planning Permission Granted
Planning Permission for a large Urban Extension to Selby has been granted by Selby District Council after many years of close partnership working to resolve the many technical issues associated with this major previously developed site. Spawforths were engaged as masterplanners, planners, architects and landscape architects for the project and facilitated stakeholder and community engagement during the life of the project.
The scheme includes proposals for over 850 new homes, local shops, a new primary school and extensive public open space and chilldren's play areas as well as new improved replacement sports facilities with a purpose designed club-house and changing facilities. The relocation and enhancement of the existing allotments to the northern part of the site also form part of the detailed proposals.
As part of the Section 106 agreement, the scheme will deliver a new access road from the bypass to open up Selby's major employment site, a number of on site affordable homes, and funding for the primary school and community facilities
The outline planning permission and associated Environmental Assessment, also prepared by Spawforths in-house ES team, now pave the way for the detailed design of the homes and infrastructure with commencement of site works expected to begin later in 2016.
